FEES AND FINANCING
The fee for the Visual Communication training course for applicants from the EU is EUR 425 per month or EUR 2550 per semester, from outside the EU is EUR 550 per month or EUR 3300 per semester.
The enrollment fee is EUR 180 and the final examination fee is EUR 280. For non-EU students there is also a one-time application fee of EUR 50 and reservation fee of EUR 500. You can find out more about these fees below.
If you take a break from your studies for a specialized internship, that semester will of course be free of charge.
//GOVERNMENT-SPONSORED SUPPORT (BAFÖG)
In both Hamburg and Berlin, the HTK – Academy of Design is registered as a private vocational academy in Graphic Design and is „BAföG approved“.
BAföG (pronouced bar-fug) is the name of the German government’s financial support program for vocational training courses. A successfull applicant must fulfil various criteria to be eligible for financial support, eg. permanent residential status in Germany. The amount of support also depends various factors such as on the applicant’s age, their income and financial assets, as well as those of their parents or legal guardians.
//OTHER FINANCING OPTIONS
Many financial institutions in Germany, such as Deutsche Bank, Sparkasse, Volksbank, and Raiffeisenbank, offer loans for vocational training courses with flexible monthly payment options and allow you to negotiate individual terms at a low yearly interest rate.
Germany’s development bank KfW also offers loans for vocation training courses, with a monthly payment option at a low interest rate.
However, as with any application for a loan, various criteria must be met for an application to be approved and these criteria are determined at the discretion of each financial institution.
Please note: the HTK - Academy of Design does not offer applicants financial assistance in the form of loans, grants or scholarships.
FOR EU APPLICANTS: There is no application fee for EU citizens.
FOR NON-EU APPLICANTS: After your application, we will directly check if you meet the formal requirements to study at the HTK. If this is the case, you will be asked to pay a one-time non-refundable application fee of 50 €. Once this fee is received, we will further assess your application.
We have partnered with Flywire in order to streamline the process of this fee. Flywire allows you to pay securely from any country and any bank, generally in your home currency. Once you are asked to pay the application fee of 50 €, you can do so via the Flywire Payment Terminal of the University of Applied Sciences Europe. FOR EU APPLICANTS: There is no registration fee for EU citizens.
FOR NON-EU APPLICANTS: Once you are accpeted as a student, you will be asked to pay a reservation fee of 500 €. The reservation fee is a one-time payment that will sercure your spot and that will be deducted from the total cost of the program, before you are invoiced for tuition.

Once you are accpeted as a student you will be asked to pay the reservation fee of 800 €. The payment can be done via the Flywire Payment Terminal of the University of Applied Sciences Europe. Paying tuition with Flywire is safe, fast, and convenient. Follow the simple steps below to submit your payment:
1. Get started: Go to the Flywire Payment Terminal of the University of Applied Sciences Europe via www.flywire.com/pay/ue-germany and enter your payment amount and country of origin.
2. Select payment method: Review the payment options provided, and select your preferred method. Options may include bank transfer, debit/credit card in your home currency, electronic payment, or other local options.
3. Enter your details: Create your account, then enter some basic information to initiate your payment. Flywire will include this information with your payment for easy identification by our staff.
4. Make your payment: Follow the instructions provided to send funds to Flywire via your selected method.
5. Track and confirm: Track your payment by logging into your Flywire account at any time. Receive text and email status updates each step of the way, including confirmation when your payment has been delivered.
